My family, having originated from Burma, (now called Myanmar), a country renowned for producing some of the finest gemstones in the world, have always had an interests in their purchase and sale. I can recall, from a very early age, family & friends laying parcels of stones and jewellery on the table with a view to disposing of them. This interest has stayed with me and resulted in me studying, collecting and selling gemstones as a profitable hobby. However, I have found that when the subject does arise in conversation the vast majority have very little knowledge of gemstones, in particular coloured stones (as opposed to diamonds), which I find far more interesting and, if the truth be known, far rarer.
The Gemstone Diaries are my way of imparting what I have learnt and enjoy to those that are interested, be it as a collector, for jewellery or as a long-term investment.
