England’s world cup performance against Australia yesterday was a poor show of rugby at international level resulting in, what I believe to be, the largest points difference defeat at home and the first time a host nation has not made it through to the knock out rounds.
All credit to Australia, they out played England, kept their discipline and did not give away silly points. They turned over English possession a number of times, something you don’t see much of at the international level and routed them in the scrum, a tradition strength of the English Rugby game.
If Australia continue playing the way they did they have more than a fair chance to beat South Africa, Wales and New Zealand, who I think are the three other teams to watch. I can easily see Australia, on that performance, in the finals.
