I had a quick Dim Sum lunch at Yauatcha Soho last week. It’s a fine restaurant, with a pleasant ambiance, friendly & efficient staff and good food. It’s very popular and I advise booking.
We had Malay kweito, Char Siu bun, sticky rice, chicken feet, (which were delicious) and venison puff (a must), which in total, with drinks, came to £50 for two. All good.
The name, I was reliably informed by one of the staff, is combination of the founder’s name , Mr ‘Yau’ at ‘at Cha’ which means ‘ at tea’. Believe what you want!
The restaurant was created in 2004 by Alan Yau, who previously created the Japanese Wagamama and Thai Busaba Eathai restaurant chains as well as the more expensive Hakkasan restaurant, also in London. Like Hakkasan, Yauatcha gained a Michelin star rating in 2005, which it has retained and in January 2008, Yau sold a majority interest in Yauatcha and Hakkasan to Tasameem, part of the Abu Dhabi Investment

Love the thought of Yum Cha, morning or afternoon tea with Dim Sum. This place sounds delightful. Hoping they make healthy versions of Dim Sum packed with veggies and prawns…….thank you for sharing a gem of a restaurant.
my pleasure
