I had a very French lunch last week at Brasserie Zedel. Its conveniently located just of Piccadilly Circus and ideal for a long-ish lunch. The main restaurant and bar are situated downstairs, but it’s so spacious, well lit and decorated you don’t feel as if you are underground. The ambience is that of Paris in the 1930s, the service is prompt, the food consistent and in general not too expensive. It’s slightly ‘touristy’ but if your lunch rolls into dinner there is a Jazz & Cabaret Club inside, The Crazy Coqs, which I am told is very good. I suggest a drink in the Bar Americain first before going into dine. The restaurant’s Prix Fixe Menu is good value at £9.75 for two courses and £12.50 for three courses but budget for £25 a head for the a la carte menu, not including drinks.
P.S. For those in the know, this establishment serves ‘Pineau’.
P.P.S. Mobile phones don’t work downstairs, which is rather good, no-one on their phone!
